Call for papers

On behalf of the Hong Kong Innovative Users Group (HKIUG), it gives me great pleasure to invite you and your colleagues to participate in the 8th HKIUG Annual Meeting, which will be held on 3-4 December 2007 at The Hong Kong Institute of Education.

Comprising 16 libraries in Hong Kong and Macau which use the INNOPAC/Millennium integrated library system produced by Innovative Interfaces Inc., the HKIUG has held Annual Meetings since 2000. The HKIUG Meeting provides a forum for member libraries and other system users to share ideas and experience in using the INNOPAC system and in other related areas. The HKIUG is also a showcase for member libraries to present their latest library automation projects, as well as their own applications of the INNOPAC system. Last year there were approximately 300 attendees from Hong Kong, Macau, Mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, Philippines and USA.

This is the first call for papers to be presented at the 8th HKIUG Meeting. You are invited to submit a paper on a topic relating to the application of the INNOPAC system or other related IT projects to the delivery and management of library services. An abstract of your proposed paper of no more than 400 words is to be submitted together with your contact details to the Meeting Secretariat by the 3 October 2007. Abstracts can be submitted using the attached form by email to Ms Veronica Ho, HKIUG Secretariat, at ymho@ied.edu.hk or by fax on +852 2948 6696. All applicants will be notified by the end of September whether or not their paper has been accepted. Papers may read or presented in Powerpoint at the Meeting, and may be submitted by members of the HKIUG or by Innovative users from throughout the region.

This year, the HKIUG will also be presenting a Hong Kong "Be Innovative" award. This award will be open to all papers presented at the Meeting, and the winner will be announced during the proceedings.

Sponsored by Innovative Interfaces, Inc. and other major vendors, the HKIUG Meeting is free of charge for all participants. A preliminary program is now available at http://hkiug.ln.edu.hk/meetings/am2007/

For further information, please feel free to contact Ms Veronica Ho, HKIUG Secretariat, on +852 2948 6694 or at the above email address. We look forward to hearing from you and to seeing you at the Meeting.
